Zakat Accounting School: A Collaboration Program Between Islamic Accounting Study Program UIN Sunan Kalijaga and LAZISNU DIY

Islamic Accounting Study Program, FEBI, UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta has initiated the implementation of the independent learning - independent campus curriculum. As part of this initiative, the study program has established a partnership with LAZIS NU DIY. This collaboration takes the form of an internship program, through which Islamic Accounting students will participate in the accounting processes at LAZISNU, which operates across 5 regencies/cities in Yogyakarta. The program is designed not only to provide practical experience for the students but also to support the implementation of PSAK 109 on Zakat Accounting.
Prior to the commencement of the internship program, a two-week online training called “Madrasah Accounting Zakat” was conducted. This training was attended by 41 selected students who had successfully passed the Internship Program selection, as well as all LAZISNU DIY staff members responsible for financial report preparation.
As an organization entrusted with community funds, it is imperative for LAZISNU to prepare financial reports in compliance with relevant accounting standards. To address this, lecturers from the Sharia Accounting Study Program delivered a presentation on Zakat Accounting as stipulated in PSAK 109 (Financial Accounting Standards for Zakat Management Institutions) during the event held from August 11-20, 2021.
This program is mutually beneficial for both parties. LAZISNU DIY will gain skilled human resources capable of producing accountable financial reports, while the Sharia Accounting Study Program, FEBI, UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta will have a collaborative partner for community service and the implementation of the independent learning – independent campus curriculum. These points were expressed alternately by the Head of LAZISNU DIY and the Dean of FEBI UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta during the online opening event on August 11, 2021.
