Yogyakarta — Sharia Accounting Study Program UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta once again held a National Seminar and Public Lecture with the theme “Digital Transformation in Taxation and Accounting.” The event featured two distinguished speakers in the fields of taxation and accounting: Dr. Rusmawan Wahyu Anggoro, MSi., Ak., CA, Coordinator of the Tax Accountant Division at the Indonesian Institute of Accountants (IAI) Yogyakarta Region, and Antin Okfitasari, SE., M.Si., Ak., CA, AB, BKP, CTAr, Asean CPA, a seasoned taxation practitioner with extensive experience in the field.
The seminar aimed to provide insights to students and participants on how digitalization has transformed the landscape of taxation and accounting in the modern era. In his presentation, Dr. Rusmawan Wahyu Anggoro emphasized the significance of digitalization in enhancing transparency and efficiency in the taxation system. He also explained the Core Tax Administration System, a digital platform designed to simplify tax administration. “With this system, tax calculation, reporting, and payment processes become faster, more accurate, and less prone to human error," he explained.
Meanwhile, Antin Okfitasari elaborated on how digital transformation not only assists tax authorities but also taxpayers in fulfilling their tax obligations. She explained that technologies such as e-invoicing, e-billing, and e-filing have simplified the tax reporting process and made it more accessible to a wider audience. “Digitalization has had a positive impact on increasing taxpayer compliance, as well as reducing the potential for state revenue leakage,” she stated.
Both speakers agreed that the future of accounting and taxation will be increasingly integrated with digital technologies, making it essential for students to master tools and applications that support automated accounting and tax processes.
This event is expected to broaden participants' understanding of the significance of adapting to digital transformation, particularly in the fields of taxation and Sharia accounting. With rapid technological advancements, both practitioners and academics in these fields must continuously develop their competencies to remain competitive in the digital era.
