Yogyakarta — Two students from the Sharia Accounting Study Program UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, Mulkhan Kamila Masni and M. Haidar Ma'arif Al Baihaqi, have been selected to participate in a student exchange program at Wuxi Institute of Technology, China. The exchange program will take place from September 2024 to February 2025.
This initiative is part of UIN Sunan Kalijaga's international collaboration efforts with various overseas educational institutions. The program aims to broaden students' global perspectives and experiences, particularly in Sharia accounting and its international applications.
Mulkhan and Haidar expressed their gratitude and enthusiasm prior to their departure. “This is an extraordinary opportunity for us. In addition to learning about the education and accounting systems in China, we also hope to expand our international network and bring back valuable knowledge to contribute to the development of Sharia accounting in Indonesia,” said Mulkhan.
Haidar added, “We are determined to make the most of this opportunity. We hope to apply what we learn there to make a positive contribution to academic development at our university and in society.”
The student exchange program focuses not only on academic development but also integrates cultural experiences. Participants will engage in various cultural activities, deepen their cross-cultural understanding, and build relationships with other international students.
Wuxi Institute of Technology is one of China's leading technology institutes, renowned for its vocational and technological education. Through this program, the two students are expected to leverage the latest technologies applied in modern accounting systems, which can then be adapted to the context of Sharia accounting.
Dr. Afdawaiza, Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business UIN Sunan Kalijaga, expressed pride in the two students. “We hope their experience at Wuxi Institute of Technology will inspire other students and support our campus's vision of internationalization,” he said.
Such exchange programs are crucial in enhancing the competitiveness of UIN Sunan Kalijaga graduates in the global market. Through this initiative, it is hoped that a synergy between local and international knowledge will emerge, contributing to the future development of Sharia accounting.
