Role of Islamic Accounting Students through Caring for Others Movement between Students and the Community

Yogyakarta - Students of Islamic Accounting Study Program, FEBI, UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta held a charity event with the theme “Application of the Role of Islamic Accounting in Society through Caring for Others Movement to Foster Relationships between Students and the Community.” This charitable event is part of the 4th Sharia Accounting Fair and aims to cultivate a sense of caring among the community, encouraging both students and the public to allocate a portion of their earnings to support those in need, while also fostering stronger connections between students and the local community.
The initiative commenced on August 23, 2021, with the distribution of donation pamphlets to students, academics, and the general public. The beneficiaries included Islamic Accounting students affected by Covid-19, residents of Ngentak Sapen Caturtunggal Village RT 04 RW 01, rickshaw drivers, scavengers, and marginalized individuals in the vicinity of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. The peak of the event occurred on Friday, October 15, 2021, at 09.00 WIB, featuring various activities, starting with a ceremonial session held in the courtyard of the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. The session was attended by Mr. Tarsono, the Head of RT 04 RW 01 of Ngentak Sapen Caturtunggal Village, Mr. Dr. Ahmad Salehudin, S.Th.I., M.A., the Vice Dean III of the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business, representatives of Islamic Accounting students, and the organizing committee.
“This donation activity has been incredibly beneficial for us and those in need. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the families of the Islamic Accounting students, FEBI, UIN Sunan Kalijaga for their compassionate efforts in organizing this activity. We hope that the students in college will have a smooth academic journey and achieve their dreams,” said Mr. Tarsono.
“I am genuinely happy and proud of the efforts made by the Islamic Accounting Student Association. This demonstrates that students, despite being seen as an elite group, still have a genuine concern for others and a strong sense of compassion for those in need. Activities like this are essential and deserve to be continued as a form of students’ dedication to the community,” said Mr. Dr. Ahmad Salehudin, S.Th.I., M.A., the Vice Dean III of the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business.
The ceremonial event concluded with the symbolic distribution of basic necessities to Mr. Tarsono, representing the residents. Subsequently, the committee distributed 81 packages of basic necessities and 30 boxed meals at various locations, including Lippo Plaza, Nologaten, Jalan Solo, Sapen, Balai Yasa, Gowok, Timoho, and the surrounding areas. Internal distribution to Islamic Accounting students took place in the courtyard of the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business UIN Sunan Kalijaga. Simultaneously, the distribution of basic necessities in Ngentak Sapen Caturtunggal Village was carried out at the residence of Mr. Tarsono, the head of the local RT.
The activity concluded at 17.00 WIB. The 4th Sharia Accounting Fair committee received numerous positive responses due to this initiative. It is hoped that this activity can be continued in the next event, and may all the goodness not end here. The committee extends their sincere gratitude to the donors, LAZISNU-CARE Yogyakarta Special Region, Jet Fried Chicken, Jogja T-shirt, and all other parties who have supported through their contributions, donations, and efforts.
