Islamic Accounting Students Learn Taxes at the Directorate General of Taxation of the Special Region of Yogyakarta

Sleman, 19/05/2023. Students of the Islamic Accounting Study Program, FEBI, UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta recently visited the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) in Yogyakarta to gain firsthand knowledge about taxation. More than 120 students participated in the activities held on Friday, May 19, 2023.
At 09:00, the event commenced with an opening speech by the Head of the Islamic Accounting Study Program, stating that the visit was an endeavor to enhance the understanding of Islamic Accounting students studying taxation courses, enabling them to grasp the latest tax regulations outlined in the Harmonization of Tax Regulations Law (UU HPP). It is hoped that this activity can bolster students’ knowledge in preparing for their future careers.

The second opening speech was delivered by the Head of the Outreach, Service, and Public Relations Division of the Regional Office of DJP DIY, Mr. Agung Subchan Kurnianto. In his speech, he expressed his enthusiasm for the tax public lecture activity. As part of the duties and functions of the DJP Regional Office to provide education to the public, this activity is expected to impart knowledge and raise awareness among the younger generation about taxation. Additionally, he hopes for increased involvement of students from the Faculty of Economics and Business UIN Sunan Kalijaga in the tax awareness programs organized by the Directorate General of Taxes.

In a friendly and flexible manner, the speakers provided materials about taxes, covering topics such as the benefits of taxes, the organizational structure, duties and functions of the Directorate General of Taxes, and updates on the Harmonization of Tax Regulations Law prepared in 2022. The presentation of materials and discussions proceeded in an enjoyable and pleasant manner. The event concluded with a group photo session.

On Friday, May 19, 2023, the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Taxes in Yogyakarta was adorned in green, reflecting the alma mater of UIN Sunan Kalijaga. With a deeper understanding of tax law, all individuals contributes to the nation’s development.
