Islamic Accounting Study Programme Conducts Curriculum Redesign by Presenting International Academics and National Stakeholders
Yogyakarta, August 1-2, 2024 - The Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business (FEBI) of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta organizes a review of the Curriculum of Sharia Accounting Prodi on August 1 and 2, 2024. The event was attended by several leading academics and practitioners, as well as alumni and students who participated actively in providing input and advice to complete the curriculum.

At the first session, Dr Imran Haider expressed the importance of reviewing the curriculum every six months to ensure relevance and adaptation to the latest developments in Sharia accounting. It is considered essential to maintain the quality of education and the readiness of students to face the world of work. Dr. Ahim Abdurahim stressed the need to involve lecturers who are also industry practitioners as teachers. According to him, lecturers with practical experience in the field will be better able to deliver relevant and applicable material. In addition, he also highlighted the importance of grouping materials based on attitudes, knowledge, general skills (KU), and special skills (KK) to create a competitive graduate profile. Dr. Diana Ayrawati gives insights into the need to expand student internship opportunities and the importance of integrating technology and applications into the internships. He also stressed revising teaching materials to be always up-to-date and relevant to industry standards.
Alumni and students also gave valuable input. Ita Fitriana recommends extending the internship to a minimum of 4-6 months to provide a more in-depth practical experience. Khoirunnisa added the need for the addition of test tools and software applications in the curriculum and the qualification of practicum lecturers who prefer practitioners. M. Bagus Septiawan stressed the importance of learning Excel and integrating ATLAS into the MBKM program. At the same time, Alif Kahlil Gibran suggested extending the duration of Field Work Practice (PKL).
FEBI UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta has produced a variety of essential recommendations that are expected to improve the quality of education and impress graduates who are competent and ready to face the challenges in the world of work. Implementing the input and advice given by experts, practitioners, alumni, and students will be a strategic step in completing the curriculum of Prodi Sharia Accounting.
